Rook, (any ethnicity, male or female, open age-range) who’s new to the Sheriff’s Department and eager to prove to the other deputies, the Sheriff, and to the whole town that tough and clever run in the family. Older brother Bruce, smarter than most, has had some poor judgement when it comes to friends. It devastated Rook to turn Bruce into the police five years ago, especially when he went to jail for longer than he deserved. That doesn’t change the fact that in the years since then, Rook has demonstrated that family means more than anything. Once inseparable, Bruce and Rook have struggled to reestablish their bond since the death of their father.

Logline: $1 is a braided mystery/thriller, a one-dollar bill changes hands in the small rustbelt town of Highland, in post-recession America. Created by Jason Mosberg, a one-dollar bill changing hands connects a group of characters involved in a shocking multiple murder. The path of the dollar bill, and point of view in each episode, paints a picture of a modern American town with deep class and cultural divides that spill out into the open as the town’s secrets get revealed. Each episode spotlights a different character in possession of the dollar bill.

Mostly “One Dollar” is grounded in serious, realistic issues, including the economics of a small town rooted in its steel mill past versus a developer’s vision for its future and questions about racial prejudice inside the Braden police department. “One Dollar” also depicts the haves and have-nots of a town called Braden, addressing socio-economic class disparity. And there’s a timeliness to the show with talk of tariffs kicking in that might help the steel industry and a white supremacist group that doesn’t believe the “seven gloves” murder actually happened, labeling it “fake news.”

The 10-episode series was created by Jason Mosberg, who executive produced along with Craig Zobel, Matt DeRoss, Alexandre Dauman, and Graham Gordy. CBS Television Studios produced in association with Anonymous Content.

Everyone plays "Chris"   <----- CLICK HERE FOR SIDES

Chris is the guardian of Lucas - (note: casting is open to making Chris either the father or the mother, or perhaps the older sister or older brother of Lucas — you can choose what suits you best for the audition).

When Chris learned that Lucas left a school field-trip, it was surprising. Lucas is one of three fifteen-year-old boys who have gone missing. Chris is confused, because Lucas was a kid who would never skip school, much less, skip a field trip. Lucas has a scholarship to attend the private St. Joseph’s Catholic school that could be taken away if he were to get into trouble. He knows that and has been very conscientious of it in the past. Chris is particularly concerned since Lucas is a Type I diabetic. Throughout the investigation, Chris has been becoming increasingly terrified, as each of the police-leads has failed to pan out. Now they have just learned the worst…the police have found Lucas’ body wrapped in a sleeping bag and left outside the church in a flower bed. His body was deliberately placed there over night. To ease the blow, the police brought Father Stan, the head master in charge of the school, into the interrogation room, to be there when Chris is told.
